Like your red/yellow against black or graphite. The apple really jumps out at you. Your apple is out of shape at the bottom. If your shadow is on the left then the shadow (or darkness) of the apples should be on the left too. and darkness in the dip of the apple. great idea and I think it really works, Sandy

this is good but i find the apple off a bit. maybe it's shape has me befuddled. the color harmony and shading is wonderful and the texture of the backdrop appears as a curtain to me. good job on that. this is a good contest entry. good luck. the apple really does pop forth.

Simple but effective. i see what you mean now (I've done one for the contest too but fear i may have misunderstood what you were looking for). the simple pencil texturing, really does throw the apple out at you. a striking piece Lucien.
