I feel you have a lovely painting here and you have done well to get so much across using just black and white as a medium.The eyes are really expressive and I also like the shading which has picked up on the light.Well done and well presented,regards,mick

What a pretty kitty. Some more detail on this would really be sharp looking. Love kitties eyes. I think your major issue here is the frame. I think for this keeping some space around the cats head would give it more of a portrait quality.

Eyes are done beautifully, really draws one in. Colors are also nice, the only thing I would like to see different in more contrast in color depths. It appears over all a little too grey. The darker shades would add more dimension to pop out more features of the cat. Really though, over all good portrait. Peace.

What a wonderful piece of art. Your subject matter is dead on. Your choices and use of shadowing and lighting and color use brings it all into one gorgeous piece of art the detail of the cat is great..

I can tell you it looks great and how nice it is to view!.Really I wanted to stop and say congratulations on the diamond seal and it is a wonderful book that you submitted. You can't go wrong with a painting of a cat! You have captured the essence of this one. The only part I don't like are the brush strokes. They are too crude to be cat hairs. Cats are soft,unless this one is a special bred. I find smudging with a finger makes lovely cat hair.

Thank you but it's a bit difficult to smudge in oils. I usually do these in pastels but had to use oils for this competition.

Is this for the black and white contest? Now it makes sense that the eyes are grey. I'm sorry. Now I understand.

Reading your title, I thought it's digital, made with smudge tool; the painting is beautiful; in fact, the cat is too beautiful, because looks like human; it's a nice lady, with a subtle smile (MonaLisa-like) and wonderful insightful eyes; I like the image a lot.

Smudge is very cool and looks quite intelligent too. Lots of personality. Great painting nice colors and blending of colors is good too. Good center of interest excellent Job I`m sure your son`s cat Smudge would be very proud. : ) Bingo!
