These trees are becoming more popular as lack of space is at a premium these days. This is a stunning example of one. This is very busy, though the display must be gorgeous in person I find that as an artwork it's too confusing with too many focal points. Your eye doesn't know where to look first and there it lacks smooth flow throughout. I might have tried a higher frame and then used software filters to give a soft blur around the excess. That would help nail down your focal point. I think you have a second photo in here. As a display image this little corner has a great flow to it and a good focal point! Again I would do a similar software treatment to further define the focal area. Nice colors and beautiful techs, great subject matter!

Hi dreamdee, I took your advice and re-did the image by adding some glaussian blur around the tree. I'd love it if you would take another look and tell me what you think. Thanks, Helvi :o)

I took another look, it has improved a lot. Now you see the focal point much better.
Hi dreemdee,
Though I was hoping to earn another star I am grateful for your help. Thank you so much for coming back to take another look. The fact that you thought I had improved the picture means a lot to me. I appreciate you letting me know that.
Hugs and Smiles,
helvi :o)

I don't like to change the initial rating because for one I'd be reviewing everything several times for everyone and two I think if people see the rating then they might read the review and note that the composition was improved upon. But don't worry, the lowest and highest ratings never count in your ranking! :)

excellent work with the gaussian blur. the tree is now the center piece and focal point of the photo. the tree now has the full attention of the viewer. the human eye focuses on what the mind wishes to see and everything else in the background is blurred, lending the full attention of the mind to the subject being viewed. a photo made with the same principle in mind is more natural for mind-eye coordination making it much easier and pleasurable to view. the tree now has body and stands out from it's surroundings. your photo is beautiful, i love it. gary.

Hi Gary, I re-did the photo of the Christmas tree by adding some gaussian blur. Now the image has a focal point. I would really appreciate it if you could take another look and possibly raise my rating if you think I did a good job. Thanks, Helvi :o)

Great title for this shot. I have seen one of these. They are amazing. great close-up view you have taken, Very clear and candid. The light use enhances the colors and the sheen of the decorations so well. Creatively shot, good photographic skills, good impact.Aarmymom

Hi armymom, They're very interesting aren't they. I'm glad you had the chance to see one of these yourself. I'd vever put my tree upside down, but I enjoy seeing them. They're different and fun. Thank you for the wonderful review. Smiles and Hugs, Helvi :o)

This is very unusual and very interesting. I haven't seen anything like this befiore. Looks quite dramatic. Like a chandelier covered with gold ornaments. Excellent find. Good luck in the contest!

HiSteffi, I had never seen anything like this before either until last year. I was at a Garden Shop and all of the decorate trees on display were uside down. I really liked what they had done and since I always have my camera I couldn't resist taking some shots. This was my favorite. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the wonderful review. Helvi :o)
