I love this picture all the different dimensions and cloud structure. The rainbow is wonderful as they always are. Good point of view and exposure. Thanks for the share.

Thank you so much Peg. The rainbow isn't a rainbow at all but a rear light phenomenon caused by ice crystals in the cloud, a Bravais arc. It is unbelievable beautiful and direct over head in the zenith of the sky,

This is really something. I had no idea a rainbow could be upside down. The composition of this photo is excellent and the colors of the sky and fluffiness of the clouds well seen. Thanks for the education and sharing.

Thank you so much. I didn't have any idea of its existence either before I've seen the impressive arc.

That is a very educational picture and discussion. I never sqw anything like this, and appreciate your explanation. The colors are nice and clear and the center of interest really holds one's attention.

You have captured lovely balance here. A well thought out composition that is very eye-catching in its simplicity. Very pleasing altogether, I loved viewing it.. Robin

Thank you Robin, This one wasn't easy. Laying on my back pointing in direction of the sun and trying not to get to much light.

Brillian catch of this strange event
Color is clear out in this mostly plain sky
Soft glow at upper left seems almost to be the starting point of the phenomenon.
Nice job

very nice rainbow a mist subtle group of clouds of white. i like the difused feeling of the clouds and the great angle they present to the viewer. the clarity and presentation of this interesting photograph leaves a question to be answered. is this a arial photograph? very nice shot

Thank you so much. No it is not an aerial photograph, this optical phenomenon is in zenith directly over head in the sky. The photo is taken laying on my back. It is not a rainbow. Other than a rainbow what is caused by water droplets, this phenomenon called Circumzentinal Arc or Bravais Arc occurred when sun light is broken by ice crystals in the clouds.

This is the first time I have ever seen a rainbow going sideways. I guess we never see it all do we? A very nice capture here and the colors here are very nice, crisp and clear as a bell.

Thank you very much. It was the first time that I have seen this myself. It isn't a rainbow. It is in the sky directly over head in the zenith. It's a rear optical phenomenon called Circumzenithal arc or Bravais arc.
