1001 night? Aladdin or Ali Baba? A mirage, a Fata Morgana? I guess it's all of it. In most it is a dream scape relaxing the viewer with it's beautiful colors and take him/her away from the all-day worries with a story to imagine.

Thank you so very much for the wonderful comments and five stars, Cleo!! I really appreciate it. I think though if I was Ali Baba or Aladdin or any of those, I would rather ride an Arabian horse than a camel any day. At least they don't spit on you. LOL. :) Shawn
-
Right. Im agree about the horse. :-) Cleo
-
LOL! I'm gonna have to look up Fata Morgana :) I've heard it before, but don't know exactly what/who it is.
-
It's just a Mirage, caused by certain, often heat related condition of the air, something like a mirror image of reality in the air on a different location.
It is similar to what you see on the highway on hot very hot days when the highway seems to turn liquid ahead.
There are many stories were the traveler in the desert sees an oasis but when he goes for it it varnished.

A perfect scene MW... I have seen skies like this and I can understand this character just being there to take in the wonders of nature.. The long curve of the sand against the water lets the eye wander around easily and your shadows are perfect!..Fine viewing as always!,Thanks...Dennis

This is so different and such an amazing painting from what I've seen so far.
Needless to say that I've got no more sixes left, but this deserves a 10!
The work of color and the soft detail to the view is outstanding! Yet with such clarity and sharp rendering of your subject it presents great skill.
The focus (not the usual meaning of this word), but I don't know other word, maybe perspective is so focused and balanced out towards the lone traveler and into the distance is magic.
The red in the sky with the space in-between makes this painting full of scope and feel of distance.
The presentation of palms and water is so well managed with shadows and highlights.
Very strong initial impact and the painting holds attention and makes me fee peaceful.
Thank you for sharing your art.

What a beautiful review, Amber! I thank you so very much for the fantastic comments and five stars. I really appreciate it :) Shawn

You are very welcome. I wish I could draw like that.
-
This is probably going to sound funny to you, but I wish I could draw too. Can't "draw" worth a darn :) I can do OK at painting, but can't actually draw, like in graphite drawing, etc. LOL.

This looks so beautiful I love the colors of the sky and the way you created them it looks like a storm coming or even looks like it's on fire, the techniques you used for this created a great impact, thanks for sharing!!

Pretty neat piece!
Nicely composed.
I like the colour tones on this, the detailing on the clouds are great too.
I like the added touch of the reflection on the sand..gives the illusion of the glass like quality of sand at high temperatures.
Good stuff.
