No color is needed but would make an added atraction. Two for the price of one. I have a kitten picture in black and white and one the same picture in a soft blue shade. Different folks like different pictures. My wife likes the Black and White. This is a great depiction of the child playing in the rain; I know I did it a lot of times as a child. Wait, that looks a heck of a lot like me, and I don't remember signing a disclosure statement LOL Cheers, Don
