This is a nicely timed action shot. It's mostly nice and sharp. Some of the feathers appear blurry. Perhaps a wider f stop is called for.

This is great. What wonderful captures of this beautiful bird. Are they both entered in the same contest? They are both outstanding but it is the one before this, I like best. I like the whole fish in the other and the light and color as well.

you were in the right place at the right time for certain! The fact he has a fish adds to the interest of the image, and catching him as he takes flight makes it more dramatic as well. I don't mind the blur of the feathers at all as it indicates motion. It's not easy to get a crisp sharp image at the lower shutter speeds and I would give this a five star if his head and beak and the fish were in sharper focus. Best of luck to you in the contest!
