You really did get in this one's face to get this kind of a picture. The detail you see in the close is amazing. I like the warm glow to this one. The way you see the seed in her beak is great. A fantastic and beautiful picture.

What an absolutely magnificent close-up view of the female cardinal. I can almost "feel" the little feathers on her head. I find the way her beak is constructed very interesting. It is not straight, which I guess is what I expected. The color of the beak and then the red around the eye and above the eye are quite interesting. What an absolutely wonderful catch. Also, thank you for the story that goes along with the photo.

A beautiful close up shot of a cardinal. There is a very sharp focus, which allows the viewer to see the fine texture of the feathers. It was an interesting capture with a seed in the mouth of the bird. The colors of the bird and the background are rich in appearance.

A fantastic shot of this intriguing bird. You have captured so much detail, it's fascinating to view this close. A wonderful contrasting bokeh sets off the well exposed shot.

Well, I'll say this, absolutely excellent focus - sharp, tack for being handheld. My 70-200 is heavy and I have trouble with handholding it at times. The lighting is excellent, very interesting photo. The only thing that I wish is that is was just slightly more of the cardinals head, but really, it's just such an interesting photo, that doesn't really bother me here. Awesome capture. Look at that detail!

This is indeed beautiful! I always admire photographers who can capture nature so closely to show it to those of us who can't unfortuantely do that. Not just is that an interesting photo, but the fact that you were there, at that one moment in time, when that cardinal was close to you...I find it very beautiful. GREAT, GREAT Photo!
