Excellent work. It is very hard to win a contest since the judging can go any way. I love how you did the figure and the wings. I wonder how it would have looked with a more somber background.

Mike I like the idea, the thing that I think is good is the way you created the body coloration, not easy to get that tonal quality and highlights using the minimal color available with the sharpies.

I am also thinking the wing structure is good, and you needs all of the wing in the frame. Like making the composition more rectangular would have accomplished that, it would have made the image more dramatic.
The red tear's, do not work for me, they clash too much with the really good skin tones are get lost as tears.

I am also thinking the wings need a few darker lines in them, to give them more structure, like partially seeing the quails the rib structure on some of the feathers.
One other thing her hair color needs to be more angelic, like golden yellows, she looks too matronly, like too old. Her body looks youthful and her hair look too old I see no youth or vibrancy there.

I still like the idea of an angle that is distress over what is happening, sad, etc. But I still want to see her as more youthful.

i was breaking away from the traditional blonde hair thing..who says that they all have that color. noted for the rest and thanks for u taking the time reviewing this penmaster..thanks!

U are correct; they all do not have to have that hair color & the color there a minor thing, the other stuff I wrote is more significant for me on improving the compositional flow.
For me, in this with the mood, the sadness it would have made for a good contrasting color and a mood difference brightness against somber.

Take care and have a great day, no matter how I think some of your pieces could be corrected sometimes, you do amazing work with the media. I know the medias difficulties and truly like your work. Your sense of humor and in this somberness come across well.
    Take care ... Cheers!!!

Another one of your beautiful creations. Besides being wonderfully rendered with great detail, it conveys powerful emotion. I am really enthralled by the symmetry and balance of form that comes together between the rock pedestal, the angel's body and its position, and the wings. Quite a lovely flow to whole piece. Excellent.
