What we do at times to get a good picture. If i got down on the ground to get a picture like this I would need all the ants to pick me up. This is amazing the way you were able to get this one. the lighting, focus and overall impact are all excellent. Good luck in the contest.. I hope you helped him get out of that spider web since he was so nice to let you take his picture.

Excellent macro shot of this ant. Excellent clarity and composition. You'll have to settle for a cyber 6 though since FAR thinks I have given you to many already. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest. Rebecca

Impressive photo. I love close ups. I've always wanted to photograph and ant this close. I like the focus and lighting. I noticed you used a macro lens and wanted to ask you if the same close up of an ant can be done with a telephoto. I want to buy a new lens and IM not to sure what to pick, I don't know what the difference is from macro and telephoto. Thank you for sharing this photo, nice job!!

Thank you so very much! You can get shots with a telephoto but not this close! The macro is for very close work like this shot. You will need to be about four feet away to get something with the telephoto. I was about an inch away from this ant!

A very nice capture here - nice colors and really nice and extra sharp. The Olympus did a very nice job for you here.

Ants don't bother me but he gives me the creeps. I would say he would pack a bite and nasty one at that. we have green ants and boy can they bite. Get a bit between the toes you know it. nature doing its best again. Did he get free??

What an unusual subject in an unusual predicament. It's truly amazing what you see if you just take time to look around and observe what's going on around you. I like how the line of the web creates a line of tension in the composition and how the blurred twigs in the foreground help the viewer to keep this little guy in perspective. Amazing capture!
