I really like that. What a beautiful old guy. You paid a lot of attention to detail and shading. It worked out well. The tree is beautifully rendered. I like the colors and the background very much. It is setting the tree of beautifully. It is probably just my overgrowing imagination; but its as if the face of a Dryad shows above where the highest branch went to the left.

lol, I wouldn't be surprised, you should have seen some of the pics I took, you could see all sorts of shapes, one looked like a snake coming right out at you. Thanks so much Cleo

awww wow thank you!!! I am so happy that you thought this was good enough to deserve such a high rating. The trick I have found with the pastels is using the sticks for background work and blocked colors but keeping pastel pencils for the detailing and keep going and going until you are finally happy with it, I always get half way through a pastel study and think oh oh this one isn't gonna make it but it all comes together in the end
