That eye is hypnotizing! Love the reflections in it! I know this little guy has a ear but you hardly notice it. This shot is absolutrly super!
Everything within this shot has fantastic clarity amd beautiful lighting. I think your subject is fasinating and I'm not even seeing the whole thing! LOL
Good Luck in the Contest!

Thank you so very much!
Comment from Life is but a dream.
Good entry for the contest!
Composition is unique and quite dynamic a very unusual view, and quite becoming!
The crop is close and therein lies your creativity. It would have been nice to see you in the squirrel's eye reflection, but I think I'm asking too much, ay? When I peer into his eye on the large upload I feel like I've just jumped into a swimming pool of dark water.
In order to have made a stronger image I would have included the top of his ear and cloned out those two dark whiskers that lead our eye out of the frame and made the bokeh all uniform in colour.
I'm not about to dock marks for your artistic prerogative, so honor your artistry in your macro shot....those are merely suggestions.
TECHNIQUE
Nothing to fault you on as the upload is sharp as a tack (usually FAR uploads in the large format are soft, but not in this case).
I love the texture you caught as a result of good exposure, and the dof strengthens your image. The light is appropriate and of course your POV is the magnet that pulls us in.
Furthermore, you kept this wee little fellow natural and didn't sit on that "let's fix this up" button.
You have a great chance at walking away with the golden goose in this contest.
