I'm such a fan of sunsets, and this one is beautiful. The reflection is so pretty and I love the stormy clouds. Very dramatic looking.

When I saw this next to mine on the page..I started laughting, and thought "grat minds think alike"..then as I read the notes..I KNEW it was yiurs, and that made me laugh even harder! LOL this is truly one beautiful piece..filled with amazing light, and wonderful colors, alongwith a super reflection!ISWEAR, I can see a bit of Avalon just below the sun..perhaps his time has come around again? Mydaughter named her daughter Morgan after the legends I read to her as a child..perhaps the wheel of time has turned? LOL! Donkeyoatey

Guess you are right about the great minds, I had somewhat the same thoughts and of course I know it s yours. I am happy that you can see that bit of Avalon. That means a lot to me. Perhaps the wheel of time has turned. Thank you for the review. It made my day!

I think Avalon is VERY noticeable rising right under the sun..You were priviledged to see this! Donkeyoatey

Why I do see things, others see not? If I am able to capture them on camera they are there to see for everyone. I had lots of feedback,m positive for the most part. Most saw a cloudy sunrise, some saw a sunset; but only four [including you] saw Avalon.

Me too! There was even a couple who told me about the washed [blown] out area and a fuzzy unfocused background. Some other complimented on the shot; but said it dos not met the requirements of the contest, because it is missing the mystery. Go feature. Sometimes I think people see only mysteries provided by TV an other media, but are unable to see the mysteries which are everywhere around us. Well, what mystery is seems to be in the eye of the beholder also.

I guess so. Just have a look at the contest Macro-Photography[d] just ended. Look at the photo Ice Age -The Caterpillar and than at the comments for the photo. I am affraid people do not see what the look at; What is that?
reply by donkeyoatey on 12-May-2012
    Well..not sure WHAT to say..must be a REALLY old caterpillar..and I thought I read it was ice..what do I know..gave me a great laugh! BTW..a GREAT shot..I voted for it..but I thought it wasice...LOL!

Beautiful dramatic capture. I like the contrast of motion blured sky against crystal clear sharp water with an outstanding sunrise reflection on it. It is a mystery for me to figure out how is it that from horizon to forefront the details are so sharp and from horizon and beyond it is so blurry. Nonetheless I'm captivated by the drama and beauty of this composition.

Thank you, I appreciate your review very much. The mystery you see is a optical phenomenon, which is half way explained at the moment. I am not an astrophysicist or climatologist, but somebody else is working on a explanation. The picture was taken in tropical climate. A layer of warm air [warmer than the water] probably caused haze at the horizon. The horicont is farther away than it seems]. This layer dos not extend to the position of the photographer. The different cloud layers above and the unusual sun blast causing a sun halo obscure the view above the horizon further; but this fuzziness could be caused by the same conditions which cause a Fata Morgana. There is a chance of a mirage condition, but hart to tell because there are no objects, only water and clouds. I hope that helps to explain some of the mysteries.
Sorry for being late. I was abroad.

Amazing, and so absolutely beautiful. With just the few colors in this sunrise it almost looks like heaven on earth. Beyond great work with this one and I certainly would love to see more!!!

Great dof and focus on the water with the reflections, But the sky looks a little hazy, The sun is a little too bright and not defined as a round ball which would of made a better picture.

Thank you very much for your kind review and your input. But there are a few problems to follow your advise. The haziness is natural. It is probably the cause of the unusual light phenomena called sun halo what is captured in the picture. The sun dos not occur as a round ball through these events. I usually would not post an sun blast or blow out but in this case it is of some advantage. If you closely look at the very bright area you will see that there are rainbow colored rays around it. You will further see that the sun blast occurs in the shape of a man bending down. Both is currently not fully explained. Someone is working on it. There will be a feature including the picture in about three months at the NASA sponsored site Earth Science. If you are interested in the theme; You may luck up "optical phenomena" and/or "sun-halo" on the web in the meantime.

Great story, and beautiful, dramatic subject. One imagines the mythical island is going to arise out of the sea. This is also a great capture, the sea, sunlight reflections, sunlight and dark clouds all combine in what is an artwork of nature. Putting Arthur in would, in my view devalued your photo. Great exposure, focus and good DOF. Very well done.
