I have always been fascinated by the legend of Medussa..she was NOT an ugly old crone, but a beautiful young lady at one time. I Like your interpertation a lot, and if her eyes were not closed..we would be stone! LOL! I like the colors you chose for this, and the fall of light across her face. Donkeyoatey

This is by far the hardest review I have done since joining this site. It has provoked mixed feelings and sensations. Usually when that happens I can spot incongruities within the work that are sending inconsistent signals about the artists' intentions. In that case I try to honestly and respectfully convey what I see. But I see nothing at all to indicate a disconnect between you as an artist and what you are conveying. I sense uncommon depth of feeling and the work is skillfully executed. So I only have myself to blame. Here's what I must do: make this a favorite to remind me it needs further study; fan you so I can keep a close eye on you for better understanding of your work; and brush off my dusty Greek Classics, starting with Medusa.

I am flattered!. My knowledge of Greek mythology is very limited.(mostly culled out from movies!). I did not want to do an ugly / horror version of Medusa.I am not cut out for that kind of work. I have done some distortions to her features. Even the snakes look like a fancy hairdo!I did the background in swirls to keep up with the snakes!:) That's it. I would like to get a hard criticism from you. go ahead. tear me apart. If this small painting (12"x12") is acceptable, then I might do a larger version in oil. Thank you. I do appreciate your taking the time to review.

Excellent! To me, this is the best of everything I've seen you do! I love the face. The way you did the hair is excellent and really makes the face stand out! I just can't over how you did the hair to represent snakes. Wonderful work!

Very impressive face, Sesha. I like the story of Medusa, I think that she not was deserving the retribution by the words of its mother. This is a painting very well done, and very representative of myth of Medusa. I did something similar, but with my face, and curiously, also I used the orange color.

I find the story of Medusa quite fascinating and tragic. This can be told in modern day interpretations also. Thanks very much for the nice review. Much appreciated.

Definitely ugly. You have done a great job here. Thanks for putting out her eyes, so that we could enjoy the painting without fear. I know naught of anyone who could describe her face. Anybody who had seen it and was asked to describe it just sat there stone faced and speechless. Very good lines. Background pushes face closer to us. Backstory is very interesting. Thanks for an enjoyable look at mythology.
