I like the way the sun rays are streaming through the clouds. However, I think the bright white areas are slightly overexposed. The contest also said to avoid elements like trees and concentrate only on clouds.
I think this photo would have fitted the contest criteria better if the land and trees had been left right out of it. I think a better tonal range in the clouds could be produced with a smaller aperture setting and that would also stop the overexposure in the bright white areas.

this is a great shot! it brings back memories of when my kids were little and we would see a sky similar to this (altho not usually so spectacular) and i would tell them the light was heaven peeking thru the clouds. they loved it and it seemed to make heaven a little more real to them. i love that it is in black and white too. annie

Love the look of this in b&w - which surprises me. I think it shows up very well, and with much more detail and definition. The silhouettes are anchoring without being distracting, and the tonal gradient is very nice. Good work!
