Clouds are amazing- these are heavy and oppressive. a gathering storm- I take it most of your work is commercial- don't know what it implies, but idiot op. at lab decided torture at this moment- put over I thought it made sense to you..? I also find clouds amazing- especially when you find their effects on the world climate, ofcourse at WJAC we studied cloud formation. great shot

Your nature photography is fairly good with abundant light and shadow which increases the depth of the photograph. You're absolutely right, not really much to say, you captured a shot with a camera. I do not see a 'dragon'

    fastreviewer,
Thank you for the time, to bad about your lack of visual equity. I will see if mine is still 20/20 and be sure the image of the dragon is still there, maybe the clouds moved and he faded away, that seems to happen a lot when cloud watching.
Rest assured, I do appreciate the time you took to look at my portfolio and then comment on this photo, have great week end...cheers!!!

Cheers to you too. I saw in your profile that you are a hotshot reviewer. Pity you don't know much about art. This is what is probably wrong with most reviewers on this site. I hear a lot of rumblings everytime. Kind regards, you have a magic weekend too.

What made you so angry, the fact you got an honest assessment of this singular piece of artwork, or what? Some suggestions so you can improve what was presented? In my review I do not believe I belittled you, so why the anger? so why the tactic you are taking... HUMM low self esteem or are you just having a bad day?
reply by fastreviewer on 01-Feb-2013
I never have a bad day. I do not have a low self esteem. Your assesment was not honest and you know it. And you got it wrong, I am not angry, just annoyed at reviewers like you who give out advice about something they know nothing at all about. And I again wish you, kind regards.

    re-read it, the critique:

Nice idea, there is too much negative space that is not being used in the way you presented the drawing, I might consider cropping some of the unused negative space away. I am also thinking that the drawing needs more tonal variations, the majority of the pencil work is to much the same. Needs a greater range of values. I also am thinking show me some smoke, floating and billowing vertically or flowing around and over the pot. Nice start needs some more work.

My last try, take off your rose colored glasses and open up your mind. stop with the insults, they are not needed, if you do you will read a very accurate assessment, sentence by sentence of the artwork.

take care... have to go... cheers!!!
    Lucien

p.s. might have to do as you asked, and draw a pot!

Good, I would like to see it and then I'll review it for you. Cheers!

Lucien, Please accept my apologies for yesterday. Tomorrow will be smoother. Kind regards. I can see the dragon.
reply by the author on 02-Feb-2013
    Accepted, no worries.
Does that mean I still have to draw the pot? I was looking forward to doing it, just need to find the time.
    have great weekend,... cheers!!!

Fabulous choice on the use of Black and White conversion. The dramatic clouds rolling over the edge of the landscape is very well framed and presented. I like the shades of black and gray in this photo. Nice Job.

    SteveAHN,
thank you for having stopped and looked and then leaving me you thoughts and comments, your efforts are appreciated. Glad you could see the dragon, within the cloud formations?

This is an interesting photo. I like the title and can see why you named it that. I love black and white. My only criticism is that it is very dark and with the lack of an object to give depth or perspective this unfortunately becomes a bit boring for me. There is definitely potential here though. Thank you for sharing!

    bowen_bonnie,
thank you for having stopped and looked and then leaving me you thoughts and comments, your efforts are appreciated. Could you see the dragon, within the cloud formations?
So how would you fix the boring?
reply by bowen_bonnie on 11-Dec-2012
Sorry I have not replied back to you promptly. Yes I can see the Dragon shape in the clouds. I want you to know that I have spent some time thinking about how this image could be enhanced for "MY" viewing pleasure. Honestly That is deffinitely a tough question. Maybe I would have tried to incorporate the mountain top a bit more to give the dragon a grander scale and the feeling that it was flying over something to give this piece some action = ). I may have toyed with some subtle colors in the white parts of the clouds like maybe some reds. When I think of dragons I think of power, destruction, and a mystical beast to be feared! yet here there is no destruction, or scale to show this beasts true size and power. I hope this helped. If not well I never claimed to be the best reviewer = )

Unfortunately all you good suggestions go against the contest rules. It was black and white contest so color is out and it also asks fro minimal use of any trees, buildings etc. Thanks for the input, have great day, cheers!!

yes ... was easy to see this serpent in the clouds ... the use of black and white and the serpent is the classic question is it a god or monster ... its great that you have a ancient eye

Not sure I see the dragon but that's the thing with cloud formations, we all see different things in the clouds. A good entry for the clouds in B&W contest. They certainly have a dramatic look to them. Good luck in the contest and thanks for sharing.

Come in from the lower left, the dark area is his body, travel along it and you get to the head, highlighted by the light area behind it towards the right, if you come in from the you you see it's wing, the head is just below it on the right.

Thank you for your support & time and comments they are appreciated.

Lucien, your composition is so mysterious and compelling. Your tones marry well. I'm a cloud watcher as well and marvel at the various formations. You've captured a scene that lends mystery. The lighting adds nice contrast. I enjoyed your photograph.

    No one special,

Yes, me too it is amazing what one can see within their formation. I like how the darker areas on the left looks like his body and how it brings you into the image and eventually as you follow that to his head.
Thank you for time in looking and support of the photo it is appreciated.
How did you know who took the shot? I normally do not do photographs, or consider myself a photographer.

I can see your dragon, it is a great shot, dragons are not easily photographed. I too love to watch the clouds, and the image they create, it must have been a wonderful storm.

If you want to know what a real dragon's layer is like, you should step into my teacher's office. 0.0 Just kidding I've only been there to deliver messages and such. ;)
Anyway, I like the black &white white effect, cloud configuration, and clearness.
I think you could've cropped out the mountain thing at the bottom right, but other than that it's great
!

    TabaithaBrooke,

The little corner is there, it is no overbearing and helps with the ambiance of the title. To have cropped it out, I would have lost to much of the great textures along the bottom and on the left.
Thank you for time in looking and support of the photo it is appreciated.
