Oh how sweet. Never seen anything like this before. Well captured. You were obviously in the right place at the right time. Your focus is very good but I do feel the image is a tad on the dark side. The lily pad is fine but the darkness of the turtles makes is a little difficult to see all the detail.

Thanks Susan, yes tried to get the turtles a little bit lighter, the leaf went lighter not the turtles then after some frustrating time with software decided to just leave it alone - the water was pretty murky and that section was in shadow. :) Mary

Hi again. Yes it can be frustrating when everything changes. That why you need to use layers or similar!
-
Trying to learn the software but did have a play and tried lightening it and reloaded - hopefully has bought out the detail more. Cheers Mary

Hi again. Yes, it is easier to see now. Keep practising!

Although the subject matter for this photograph is interesting I have to admit that I struggled to make out what was going on until I read your artist notes. Although the lily pad is perfectly exposed, the rest f the image is underexposed to the point where the turtles all but disappear. For this image to work, considerable post-production work will be needed to bring the turtles out. Sorry...

Thanks for your comments, personally I do not have an issue distinguishing the turtles and prefer not to use post production excessively. None of the others that have reviewed so far seem to have a problem seeing the subject. :) Mary

My apologies. Clearly you regard my review as unhelpful. This was not my intention.
-
Sorry no your review was helpful I think I was offended by the 3.5 stars according to the way the ranking works 3.5 is means it was really really bad photo and I just didn't think it was that bad. I have been told to read my emails before I send them and I would probably change my mind :) Mary
-
Please don't regard 3.5 stars as really bad... I think that they would be if nothing could be done about the image. I really appreciate that your shot was a really challenging one. Often, when I give a lower rating, people have gone away and made changes. I then happily increase the rating to reflect this.
I am really strict in my marking (and expect others to be the same with me), because I think that high ratings should be reserved for really excellent work. I rate all of my own work in Lightroom on a scale of 1 to 5. The highest I have ever awarded myself is a 3! I keep hoping that one day I will do something worthy of a 4 or 5 :) Kind regards, Brian

I can see your kissing turtles or is he whisping sweet nothings in her ear.
What ever was the case I am certain that changing lens was worth the effort.

Depending on the crop you made, I think this would have been better including the fore turtles whole shell, maybe a vertical crop instead of horizontal. Colors and contrast are well done.

Thanks for your comments, just went back to the original to check but then realised this was not the one I cropped - in reality I made no change to this photograph and have updated comment accordingly.
