I think the horses are beautifully done. It is amazing how the eye blends the colors together at a distance.
It is a very effective technique which is not seen often these days.
Excellent work in my opinion.

    skyangel02,

yes that blending of the dots of colors as you move away from the drawing really is a part of the challenge in using the colors as dots. I usually get a nice 3d effect, if the color combination, their hues and tints are selected & placed correctly next to on another. I really like the pointillism technique and the style of it.

I think I have now developed my own style using technique (keep your eye open I have more that will be following the latest posting.
Thanks as always for the support,

    have great day... Cheers!!!

    Aurorarose,

maybe more then you wanted to know, but I hope you enjoy my response.

Every color seen in the drawing is a dot . I start with the lightest color dots first and then work into the darker colors. The depth of the colors is achieved by, laying one color against another color or over the color underneath it, in doing so I get a third and forth color both visually and in reality. I was inspired to perfect the technique by some of my favorite artists: like Georges Pierre Seurat, Paul Signac, Camille Pissarro and of course his son Lucien Pissarro.

This drawing is 5 x 7 and took me 12 hours to complete. I am offering it as a signed and numbered limited edition print.

Thank you for your time in looking and writing the great review. Your support of me and my artwork is very much appreciated.

    Have great day...cheers

Thank you, actually nice info. I have seen the work but never looked into it. I often wondered how the differnt shading worked out as to much ink in one place never looks that good when i do it but a dot by do would allow dry time and color choices. Thanks for the info.

Comment from Jean A Cormier

The color palette is so alive and vibrant and draws me into this piece. THe subject matter is universally appealing and the angle of Carey's shot was begging for a drawing. THe proportions are well done and compositionally balanced, I would personally like a bit less of negative space to the left. THe white area below the muzzles is larger that is appealing and the horse in back is well defined with a so much lovely depth; the one in the foreground looks very flat in comparison and if both were the same 'feel' I would assume that was the look you were going after for the work! I know the photo and I think this has turned out great. This is an amazing talent you have, clearly more involved than pushing a button on a camera. Wonderful detail and I can only assume extremely time consuming.

OK, I will give this a try then. It is not difficult at all to recognize Carey's horses in this image, and you have done a fantastic job picturing them with this special technique. It must be very time consuming and I would think it is not much room for mistakes.

This is done with good attention to detail, and even if this drawing is made out of thousands of small dots, it is a good flow here. You know how to use this media and I think this drawing is well done.

I do however have some comments to the composition. I would have left out the white line in the background at the top, and I probably also would have dropped the pole on the right. It does work as a framing, but I think it rocks the balance a bit. I like this technique, and I am impressed by your patience.

You are more than welcome. I try to get out of my comfort zone every time I am reviewing. I am probably reviewing more art than I have done before. It is just that you are such a good reviewer yourself, and I feel that I am not up to that standard at all. A great day to you as well.

I absolutely love the use of pointillism to create this amazing image, reminiscent of some of the great impressionists works. The colours and composition are excellent but the main beauty is the skillful use of the dots, all by hand. What a talent to have!

People who make art out of points of color blow me away. :) Nicely done! I love the subject for this picture - the friendship of the horses in different pastures. The pointalism gives the piece a wonderful texture. Wonderful subtle gradation of color in the faces of the horses showing their structure and muzzles. Thank you for posting this.
