Great photo. Glad you could capture this - glad lions aren't good swimmers! I like the colors and water ripples along with the shoreline that give great detail to your subject - a great lion!

The power of this photograph is in the amazing subject. How fortunate to have such a moment to photograph this magnificent lion. You have done justice to the focus and clarity. I love that intense yellow eye. I appreciate that your backdrop was not the best scrub, but you have rightly left in more of the water when others may have cropped. Great shot - I envy you!

I have never seen a big cat (or any cat) in the water. He looks great with his big old head sticking out of the water. Pretty colored water too. I would like to see him a little closer. Nice photo well done.
thanks, Natalie

Such great composition here. Good color and depth of field. I would of cropped a lot of the water out, bringing the eye face to face with this magnificent animal.

How often does one get a shot like this, even on safari? Excellent subject. Colors, lighting, focus all good. It's funny how he's holding the tip of his tail up, as if he intends to keep as much of himself dry as possible.

Lion crossing water, one I have yet to see. Composition is good but I would have made it a much tighter crop, bring the lion to the viewer, colours are good, focus on the lion is good and depth is nice. I would also have lifted the shadow so that more detail of the lion's face was visible. Nice story line. Nicely done good luck!

    taken with a compact camera;
    I had two choices: go in the water togeta close up; LOL
    crop much more than I already did, but thequality would have been too poor

    Taken with a compact, got to pat you on the back. Get in the water - never! For a compact - not to shabby. Keep up the good work.
