Very nice description of this spider, and a great story about the capture. A wonderful photograph detailing the capture of his next meal with good detail, color, and focus.

I think you are lucky, that this guy is white. The sore thump makes a good photo. Maybe the spider cannot turn blue, so white is the next best? The butterfly or moth evidently did not realize the sore thumb. Probably only we humans see it sticking out. The blue and green emphasizes the spider undoubtedly for the eyes of the viewer. The spider as its pray and the petal are also perfectly captured in detail and texture, not to mention the excellent DOF. Best luck for the contest,

What a great shot! Perfect timing and stop action. The white does stand right out...was the center of this flower white? Love the color blocks you ended up with here. Perfect composition. Good luck!

    Hi Cassandra,

THere was no white in the flower at all so I was surprised by this guys color choice. I don't think the spider can turn purple, but I think brown would have been less noticible. Thanks for the wonderul review. I'm glad you enjoyed the shot! :o)

Great shot but the spider is very scary. I like the story you have told about the spider changing color too, although this one didn't do a very good job at camouflaging. Maybe he wanted to look like a dead spider? The shot is lovely and clear and the colors and lighting are wonderful. Nice job.

I found when I do macro photograpy I am always amazed by what I see on bugs and spiders. I get a little scared myself. This spider certainly didn't blend into the background on this flower. LOL They literally diappear on Brown Eyed Susans and Golden rod whrn their in yellow mode.I guess the fact that the spider remained very still is how he caught this poor butterfly.
Thank you for the wonderful review! :o)
