In a sea of mediocre picture this stands head and shoulders above most on this site.

The quality in the feathers, the low viewpoint, the background thrown out of focus, all point to a photographer who knows what they are doing.

In fact the only reason that this didn't get the full 6 is the composition (bird looking left so more space on the left and less on the right) and the slightly dark underside of the wings (especially the right wing as wee view it).

Agree with your notes, they are fun to watch but not the best looking birds. Good catch here as a meal watch is in progress, focused and framed with a low sun exposure. Good work.
