Beautiful piece. The lovely eyes really pop and his personality seems to speak! The fur is very natural and looks like you could feel it's softness.

Suzanne,
A wonderful picture of Kohi a Collie Cross dog with his trusting eyes fixed on the photographer waiting to hear or see what his mater or Mistress wants & his ears cocked to catch any words uttered. Created switch skilful draughtsmanship artistic choice & blending of the colours of our pastels.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I'm glad you like Kohi.

He looks gentle but shy. I just can't fathom people who would treat a sensitive, trusting creature with such wanton cruelty. I'm so glad that, after his rough start, Kohi found a safe and loving home with a family who appreciated his special qualities. You have shown these with great sensitivity, and the soft pastels are an excellent choice of medium.

It is a fine drawing using chalks but there are a couple of things you should have done, or should do the next time you do this type of painting again. You have the animal itself set to far to the left (facing the artwork), which would have been okay if there had been some other type of image behind him, even a blurred image. You just needed more color for the offset. If you wanted it to be a portrait type of drawing you should have filled the whole frame work of the drawing with the dog itself, only show all the details of the dog. Fill the screen so to speak. It's a good drawing and working with chalks is extremely difficult to begin with, but you are a really good artist. This review isn't to be negative, you work is good the drawing is extremely good, you just needed a few pointers to help improve what you are already capable of doing. I love the look in his eyes, they are great. All the details are good. You are a good artist, I like the way you draw.

You are very welcome, I just love it when someone can put their thoughts to paper by hand. And chalks were never my friend, so you have a great foundation.

Very nice portrait here, love the warm and most expressive eyes. And I like the off center composition, seems nature for a dog to do. I like the detail work and the blending on the tongue.

I love pastel works and this is a great one. Even with the soft effect of pastel, you have created a phenomenal amount of detail. The composition is wonderful with just being a tad off center. Great pose that looks like he is ready to play. Wish he was still around. Great job!

I love the way he seems to be sneaking into the picture rather than being the star. I cannot understand why people bother having a pet if they are going to torture them! Haven't mentioned it but VERY skilful workmanship. Love the colors and the furry texture.

I almost thought this was photograph. Great eyes and an alert face indicated he is very happy to have been rescued. The pink tongue is a great splash of color and again shows he is one happy little fellow. The outset of the dog is a great feel for the art. Gives him space to turn and run after the invisible red ball. Great piece of art.
