This is beautifully done. Love how you have captured the essence of the dog. The eyes, clear and focused, with a hopefulness and a knowledge that he is cared for and safe. Great attention to detail. Truly well done.

What a sad story. Some people should never have a dog. My neighbour was the same. Poor dog was chained up all day long on concrete outside the back door. Never taken for walks and not very well fed either. My father used to feed him when the owner was out but unfortunately there was nothing he could do about getting him unchained. My sister has a rescue dog and it is a wonderful little terrier. Still hates to be left on its own though because she thinks she is being abandoned, as she was, found chained to a roadside sign without food or water. The dog in your work looks like a sheep dog, although I am no expert on breeds. The eyes in this work looks alive, so much so that I cannnot stop looking at them. In fact, it is getting quite frightening! Wonderful picture which has a softness about it, probably due to the pastels you used. Good Luck in the contest.

I am stunned at the way you have created the realistic eyes with corneas. Thre tongue makes me smile. I am a little torn about the composition..not sure if I like him to one side or not..but it really doesn't matter..it is a nice picture. Donkeyoatey

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Unfortunately the pastel pad I used is a bit on the narrow side so it was a case of missing the tips of both ears or just one!
