thank you so very much! I guess you are covered with snow. we are going to have sleet, freezing rain, with snow after that. Oh well, it is that time of year.

It is worse in your neck of the woods! it is going to be in the teens here. Either way cold weather sucks but hot is no good either! I guess we just need to learn to like it!

LOL I think this is a very nice photo of a single leaf, and it is something very natural about this scene since also the branches are included. Personally I would have liked an even softer background, but it has very nice autumn colors.
Your focus is spot on and sharp showing clear and well defined details in the leaf, and also very good textures. I like the nice and natural colors, and the exposure is very good.
I think the photo is well framed, and the leaf has got a good placement within the frame. This of course means a good and well balanced composition. I think this is a really well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

But do you like to lose ? LOL I suppose we can't win them all, and I know very well how it goes. I actually only get a bit irritated if I am beaten by a posting with a poor quality.

That is the most frustrating thing to happen and it happens way to often. I try to make all the contests blind but does not always work. I lost a contest just the other day to a picture that was out of focus. It was cute but poor quality. I guess that is something we have to put up with on this site. When the site runs one it does not happen, however sometimes I don't agree with their choice.

Yes, I know. Even if we don't always agree with the committee it is a better chance they will look for quality.

I like the composition. The foreground is sharp and clear and the background while muted is still rich in reds and greens,
The small stick on the left side is a nice enhancement. I stopped to look at it on my way into the picture and liked it. Then just a short shift to the right and your main subject.
The leaf has good color and I like the light treatment. This is the kind of thing I would probably walk right on past without realizing it was there. I am glad you did not and that instead you captured this image and shared it with me today.
