you are obviously the pointillism man- you have perfected the technique to its extreme. Excellently I might add. It shows extreme patience and a perfectionist in his own psyche- superb

Bertodi,
yes, pointillism does require you to be within, be involved with the image and the media, especially colors and their relationship to one another. That learning/understanding colors and how they work with and against one another is what makes it a fun technique for me to work in.
Thank you for having taken the time to go to my portfolio and then writing the review, it is very much appreciated.
Do you think the background colors need to be darker?
Have great day... Cheers!!!

With use of light and shading you have manage to create a good 3D effect and the flamingo appears to be looking out of the painting at me. Great picture and technique!

moonrabbit,
Maybe more then you want to know, but I want to give a little more information on the piece.
First off, Thank you for having opened and taken the time to looked at this piece of artwork & giving me your impressions of it. A piece of this size (7 x 10 inches) depending on complexity can take anywhere from 12 to 20 hours to complete, this one took approximately 25 hours.
It is a technique that I simply can not get enough of the way it gets me to looking and understanding colors, how they play off of one another, it is fun, challenging and amazing what the results can bring. That great 3D effect in the way the pure colors compliment and some time contrast to get that feeling of perspective and depth. And how all the dots works on creating form and structure without using any lines I find fascinating.
In closing, I especially appreciated all of you efforts and comments on this artwork. I hope you will continue to support my work in the future.
Thank you again for the support, and have a great day! ... Cheers!!!

p.s. A little self promoting, it is available at a reasonable price as a signed and numbered limited edition print.

Great technique and like the positioning of the head and neck. Maybe the eye could have been a bit brighter? The beak shape and colouring/shading very impressive.

another lovely piece, I do like ths flow of the neck and the pink and green are really good contrasting colours. The pointilism technique has given a really nice soft texture to the background

Having never been a fan of pointillism,I find this one to be simply stunning Lucien. This must have taken quite a while to do also.I find a lot of realism in this and I do like the splashes of yellow through-
out the bird.I also like the background color as it really makes this POP!!
Best of Luck to you~

Angelheart,
the technique requires the artist to truly understand color harmony, and how color's effectively compliment or change one another. Pleased you liked this well enough to leave me some comments on it, thank you also for the well wishes on it for the contest.

It was a pleasure to view this one.I respect the patience and tenacity it must take to do this type of work! :)
-
it's all about wanting to learn more about colors and how they interact on one another. but they do take time to think through and then do the artwork.
-
I'm thinking that down the road I will try this.Must learn this technique more! :)
Comment from Dick Lee Shia
Impressive pointillist rendition of a pelican's head & neck creating that 3D feel using 2D medium.
Complementary colors between the graceful neck of the subject & the verdant backdrop.
Excellent tonal variations create a nice texture of the strokes.
Effective lighting.
Compact framing.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info Sir but I'm on a standby mode since I can't find landscaping projects anymore. Actually, all my time seems to be spent in this site already...
With my iPad captures, I can't win over those DSLR shots. So I have no winnings whatsoever...

A beautiful piece. Wonderful lines created with no lines at all. My favorite color combination and such an appealing subject.

I like the pointilism with a 3d feel you have created.
the beach and the background is very well blended and has good character. the light colors are not showing up so well.
is that a copy problem?
the look in its eye is priceless.

Do is1022,
the technique requires the artist to truly understand color harmony, and how color's effectively compliment or change one another. I think it was the resizing that may have done that or my poor original camera work.
