This indeed a great shot Willie, but I am not so sure about being friendly. Your notes do however indicates something else, and it must be nice to have this lovely animal visiting every day. Hope you will get some photos of the little ones as well.
I think the photo looks good in BW, and the animal is standing out really well against the light and neutral background. Your focus is spot on and sharp showing clear and well defined details in the animal, and the exposure is really good. Very fine distinctions between light and dark in this shot.
I also think the tight cropping works well, and the raccoon has got a good placement within the frame. I think this is a really well taken shot, and with a very good DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you so very much! I am really glad you like it. This coon has almost become a pet as she comes to eat every day. She was eating when I shot this and caught the teeth.

Protecting her food I suppose. Even dogs and cats do this if they think you are going to take their food away from them.

Why does this thing look like he/she is getting ready to bite you?
She is looking so mean and if I was there that makes me want to run from it.
this is a good picture. I like the way you captured this moment of this animal.
Good job!

Thanks so much. She is actually eating, so it looks like she is mean.

Good Morning Willie
I am looking her in the eye and also at those teeth and to me she does not look very friendly. I would not reach down to pet her today.
I like the composition. The right side is a great backup for this image.
Details on her body are good and her face is nicely captured. Everything is sharp and clear.
If she would smile I would give her a kiss.
Well done Willie.

A wonderful close up portrait of Rascal looking straight into your camera lens & grimacing at her own reflection. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with razor sharp focus so I could given time count her whiskers.
