WOW, you have done great to get so close and maintain clarity. The vivid colors of the plant do nicely to contrast the edges of the insect and allow it's colors to shine through amazingly as well. The exoskeleton of this little guy is caught so well it seems more like skin than a shell. The would be a picture worthy of a science/entomology magazine!

It's really a strange looking bug and I've never seen anything even close to it before. Excellent macro shot with a razor sharp focus to show off all the tiny detail. Can even see the texture in its armor plates on its back. That green point of the star is really interesting. Fantastic macro photo Fred and thanks for sharing this strange bug with us.

Ha! I love your title. I really though it was a candy bug until I read your artist notes. And thank you for those. Those are so weak from many other artists most of the time. Although I would like to know more about your camera and your lens. Good luck in the contest.

Very interesting. Does the planet really need this one? Coloration, contrast and frontal sharpness are just right. A nice shot of something we don't see every day.

A very unusual bug in the middle of the hibiscus. The colors are rich and saturated and the composition is very fine. Good luck in the contest.

Very appropriate title Supergold. Around Halloween they actually sell jellied candies that look like this! LOL That's what I thought this was at first glance given your title. Very creepy looking but an excellent capture with awesome clarity showing details and texture. Great color and lighting with great visual impact. ~Alveria
