My initial reaction was that this piece has a folk art feel and look to it, with the perspective slightly askew as so often it is in folk art which is part of the charm! (hoping that is your intention!) I adore the dogs tail, his happy smile and the cat's face knowing which one is REALLY in charge of the whole friendship! My one black cat played with my daughter-in-law's Maltese puppy when it was a kitten and they are still friends when the now grown dog visits! Very Cute scene! ! jean

I love the subject matter for this painting. Great composition with excellent choice of colours. I also like the simplicity of the background. The detail is great. The cat is looking slightly uncomfortable in the enthusiastic embrace of the dog :) Nice work. Thank you for sharing.

The use of the pastels is a very attractive depiction of pets. Nicely done. The attitude and the eyes of the pets are the best part. I love the dog with his "arm" around that of the cat and the cat's purely feline attitude of acceptance in the eyes. Nicely done. I think it is sad that uploading pastels on to this site loses the quality just a bit. I am not counting down for that since it is out of the artists control.

A very sweet portrait of two pals who look ilke they came out of the same mold, color wise. I've seen pets play in this position and it's so great when they all get along. I currently have a dominant German shepherd who won't tolerate cats and I miss having them together. This is very nice. Good luck in the contest.

This is a great composition piece. The color tones are nice. Great blending of chalk. I think the dogs front leg seems a little weird but hit fur and tail look really nice. The eyes are nice on both. Good job.
