Yes. I too received a new camera for Christmas,,could not wait and so started to learn how to use it. This photo is good. I like that you took it sideways and not up and down. Makes it different. Love the colours especially of the background because it brings out the white of the flowers really good.

Wow, it is the white flowers against the deep purple background that really draws me in... Amazing natural contrast created by good camera settings; nice focus, good exposure and on the spot aperture which has fabulously blurred out all the distractions in the background and allowed the agapanthus to stand out. I think you have a little bit of a motion blur, which can be avoided if you raise you ISO sensitivity (your new camera can afford that!) - this will allow you to increase the shutter speed and freeze all the motion, especially if the camera is hand-held. The white balance, however, is in my opinion flawless, and colors absolutely dreamy! :) Beautiful, Mary! Enjoy your new best buddy and best of luck with your future photographic endeavors!

A very nicely composed shot with good exposure for the white petals. The colors are excellent and the detail in the stamens is super. While I shoot mostly on manual, I would recommend that you put it on aperture priority and set ISO at 800 and fire away.

Well, this is an impressive capture with fine details, features & textures.
Amazing painterly feel because of the duffused edges.
Harmonious color sat & contrast.
Diffused focusing.
Bright lighting.
Compact framing.
Perhaps there's a cam shake here or this is not yet the optimum focusing as it's not so sharp in the thumbnail.
Please correct me if this is a site uploading problem.
So I won't mark you down on that flaw...

Awww you have to be old and decrepit to acquire something like that - Happy Belated Birthday Dick but you are still a few years behind me LOL - thanks for the awesome comments, yes the camera is a little heavier than the D3100 so getting used to the extra weight but did get a little shake. :) Mary
