Yep..you caught pitiful (but not contrite! lol!) Great skin tones, and light play..BUT the crop, in my mind, it makes the viewer uncomfortable, I think it is the location of the mouth. I think I would back off a little on the bottom, and not squeeze the mouth into the lower edge. Such great light, such nice skin tones, and I like most of the composition.

Well done! Your focus, framing, and lighting are all fantastic. I really like the angle that you chose for the photo. The expression on his face is both sad and cute lol. You did a great job :) Thanks for sharing :)

I love it!!!! The expression is priceless. I am drawn most to the colors themselves. They are soft and true. The framing is nice as well. It really keeps us focused on that look of dismay on his face! Thank you so much for sharing and keep experimenting, I want to see more!

Oh boy, look at those eyes coupled with that lower lip!
You had me at A...adorable!!
This is a very nice composition that is chock full of expression. From the sad yet twinkle in his eyes to the rosey red of his cheeks and finally to the pout formed by his lower lip,all of these come together to make one adorable portrait.
Thanks for sharing this one Lori~

Carter is a beautiful child. I love how you cropped in close to really focus on his facial features with no distraction. I can just feel his pain. LOL

Handsome young man but he does seem a bit out of sorts, like you caught him in the middle of something and he had to stop and pose. Oh, I just read your notes. LOL

Such wonderful skin tones and light. Great catch light in his eyes as well. I have seen a great deal of images in this format where just a portion of the head remains and I am not so sure I am all in for it. JMO but it seems to be an emerging style so... Guess some experimentation IS in order. That is if I were much of a person to photograph people, sadly I am not. You have done a fabulous job in the composition. I like it!

The camera techs here are outstanding, focus solid with great detail. Thanks for sharing your grandson with us. :-))

Lori,

You have captured an expression that really says a lot.
What a beautiful child! I also like how you have cropped
this. My step son and daughter-in-laws marriage photo
that was taken in the Netherlands was cropped in a very
unique way...(without the top of his head) and it really
looked great. I thought to myself...you won't see many
American photographers doing that...Now you have
done something very effective with your unique cropping.
I really like it! You have great clarity as well.

Excellent experimentation! Facial detail is commendable. I love the skin tone - perfect. Shadows and highlights are nicely realized. Background compliments this little guy's portrait quite well. My only critical comment would be to note the object in the upper left corner of the image. Not sure what it is, but I'd probably clone it out. Even so, I'm still drawn to your main focus which makes this an awesome portrait capture. Well done:)
