Thanks GailiaG yes I think a lot of people would have liked a better background but not to be - guess it at least gives the viewer the impact of the size when it comes to the roof of glasshouse. :) Mary

Great shot. I have always wanted to see one for myself. You provided a beautiful photo that allows the viewer to be in the same space and experience.

Thanks Sam, apparently they had nearly 5,000 people that came to the gardens to view the unique flower. Amazing turnout. :) Mary

A rare find! An interesting initial impact.
Creative concept. Innovative approach. Imaginative presentation.
Better if those pipes & fixtures can be cloned out Mary as they are distracting to the main subject!
But I understand having reached there was too much excitement to shoot this controversial flower that one won't mind anymore what's in the backdrop!
Harmonious colors. Good perspective & long depth of field...
Excellent lighting, focusing & framing. Thanks for sharing... Best of luck in the contest!

Thanks Dick, really haven't got the expertise to clone out background and actually think it would look rather odd with a nothing background as I wanted to show how tall it was in the greenhouse. Cheers Mary

Hi Mary!
So this is the famous/infamous species of giant tropical flower that smells
( quite strongly I'm told ) like rotting animal flesh so that beetles and flies ( that will aid in pollination ) are attracted to it?
Fascinating!
It's an interesting and unusual Botanical Image and quite a good looking photo too!
Good Show,my friend!

Initial impact: what a flower!
Creativity of presentation: the object is rare and fantastic. This flower reminds me my experience 8 years ago when I journeyed in forest in West Borneo, Indonesia. I saw in the wild two flowers like this. One was mature and 165 centimeters in height, the other one was still young. I loved the texture and color but the smile...
Color Harmony: eye-pleasing
Center of Interest: the image is sharp and clean. Great focus on it.
Technical Excellence: good framing

Well done and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Joel, I know they are native to Sumatra, Indonesia but not too many left in their natural habitat so you were lucky to see one flowering. Cheers Mary

Xoxoxo...this is funny. I am from Sumatra, Indonesia. I never see this kind of flower in my island. I saw it in Borneo. I think I need to explore more my native island.

Your framing DOES capture this stunning flower and details underneath the petals. Colors are beautiful. But the background is distracting which takes away the focus. Appreciate your narrative and sharing.

Sorry couldn't move the flower to a more presentable background and as it is a complex glasshouse I have not got the expertise to clone it out and think it would look rather odd with a blank background. Thanks for reviewing. Cheers and Happy Holidays

I agree with your response. Since the flower can't move, could you have moved yourself to a different angle? I apologize if my comment was wrong . I should have thought it out and stated in a more constructive way.
