Brilliant work! This is a realistic, perfectly shaded and skillfully executed piece. You have captured the whimsical quality of the light in a forest. Thanks for sharing!

Neat creation. This one seems to beg for a story to go with it. There seems to be mystery in the scene and in what lies beyond in the murky distance. As always also well composed and detailed. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Shawn,
I have always liked your black and white work and this is no exception. You almost never need words to describe your work as it is most of the time self-explanatory.One suggestion if I may? I believe if the apple and the only part of the work would really bring this up a small bit and make the work POP on a small scale.Great job Shawn~

Good morning, Angel. Hope your feeling better. :) Your sentence following... One suggestion if I may... doesn't seem complete. Either that or I'm still half asleep, lol. Am I correct in thinking that your suggestion may have been to color the apple? Well, I did try that, which looked OK, but that's mostly what kept drawing my eye in that direction instead of seeing the whole picture, so I changed it. Maybe I'm wrong, so if you could clarify your last sentence, when you get time, I'd deeply appreciate it, and I thank you sincerely for the comments. I've had the flu so I haven't been in here much, but I see that we've acquired some newbies, which is great. More contests which is good, too. :))

    Hi Shawn,
Yes,I meant to color the apple. You're right on target.I have been on bedrest since the beginning of the year.2 antibiotics,no change followed by 5 ultrasounds which showed 3 infections and a blood clot in my bad leg.Not cool. :(

...and there is that apple to tempt Adam and so you have story in your art which is always a delight to find on this site.

The windy feeling, that alive feeling of grasses blowing, clouds moving, birds singing is present in this monochromatic rendition.

The bias towards black however with ample inclusion of gray to keep it gentle.

An expressive piece full of fun ...chirp chirp.

Thank you so much, Olga. Was worried about you when I saw about the earthquake. I had to Google your area to see where you are from the quake. Good to see it was quite a ways. Good to see more newbies on FAR too, lol. Again, thank you!!

Gosh, thank you .....you have made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. We live in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand and we did have an earthquake here about 5 years ago...mild one.

Oh what an eye arresting work of art. The framing with the two trees and the apply hanging off one is superb. The cloudlike images in the center catch the eye and then the pleasant surprise if seeing the apple crisply outlined. Very well conceived and rendered. Thank you for posting.

This is a very nice to be done with charcoal. People have different talents and that's what I like about this site. I don't know that much about this kind of art but I think that you did a great job. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. JackJr.

Had to give this a six because I thought it was a photograph. The two birds and the blades of grass in the front is what stood out for me and caught my attention. Fantastic work of art
