Another great view of our bumpy friend. I like this one because of the greenery and the fact that it draws the attention without being the center of attention. I would guess that a bowel made of cedar is very beautiful and wool itself would add a nice touch to the chicken soup. Nice job Deb.

I actually like this one even better....different time of the year and the colors are muted. Someone (will I ever get names straight??) said they wished they could see it closer so I posted the other one. I had someone want to buy this tree just for that purpose Steve (bowls) and he was really surprised when I said no. Fortunately, the tree...and me and the flowers are 1/2 mile off a dirt road....and, of course, I have Finnegan to protect the whole lot of us, so no-one will be cutting it down to make bowls.

Thank you again Steve for visiting my photos and commenting!!

Enjoy all your flowers and again your bumpy tree. Guess you answered my question as to what causes the bumps. Maybe the Cedar Tree has the mumps-lol- maybe not far from the truth. Thanks again for sharing.

oh hell....just wrote a whole bit to you and apparently forgot to hit 'save' OK- take 2- yes, this is a mumpy, lumpy, bumpy tree...lol...never thought of the mumps before....will not look at it again w/o thinking of that....and so kind of you to say you enjoy my flowers. I often wonder if people think....'GOOD LORD! Not ANOTHER flower!!' so I do appreciate you saying that.

Oh have done that before! Was thinking about my collage biology and before that High school and how we lost all the Elm Trees in Fargo N.D. where I grew up due to Dutch Elm Disease. Then get to thinking how in this case it just affects this tree. There is a Cedar not to far away that is perfectly ok! Am really now getting into this, like maybe it is in the DNA of that tree and the tree has a immune deficiency and how this may relate to Cancer in Humans. Write all this down to you and more and do the same thing you did. There is a four letter word not a three letter word for it! You are very welcome thank you very much.

ahahahah...like the way you think Bunkie....and so glad I'm not the only dummy that forgets to hit 'save'....and...lol..my fingers were typing 'hell'....my mind was thinking something far different.

I also wondered why a virus would affect this particular Cedar tree and not one next to it. The guy from UVM (University of Vermont) Horicultural Service explained that disparity like this. 'You could have 100 people lined up (even relatives) and they would all not be affected by the virus' hmmnn....OK

We had Dutch Elm problems here in VT too although not as bad as it sound like you did in ND.

At any rate...now not only appreciate you viewing my photos....have really enjoyed our chit-chat about my 'mumpy tree!'

The guy from U.V. really didn't answer our Q! What he is saying is he doesn't know. It is always difficult to say, "We don't know." We love the tree and we say to it, " You are the most beautiful tree of all the trees in the forest." Then it will start to allow us to give up it's secrets. That's how the universe works. Your tree was flattered when you took it's picture. Yea, having painters block!

...lmao now (hope that's allowed...) You are wonderful Bunkie!! My tree would even be more flattered if it know I was discussing it w/ you. The next time I pass it I will say- "Hello, bumpy tree...I have been talking about how beautiful you are w/ Bunkie!!"

Nice capture of this unique looking tree trunk. Good clarity, lighting, and color. My only suggestion in my humble opinion would be to zoom in much closer to the bumpy tree trunk which is your main subject. That way, the viewer could better appreciate the trunk, its texture, and its unusual shapes. Thanks for sharing. ~Alveria

Thank you so much Alveria for viewing and commenting....and your 'humble opinion' makes perfect sense. I have focused much more closely on my 'Bumpy Tree' and will post one or two of them in the future. This is basically the....'big picture'

Hi PegLegDeb,

This is an unusual looking tree alright and an excellent addition to your collection I expect. Do you know what the name of the species is? Thanks for sharing this. R
