One of my very favorite flowers Sandra. I have it planted in six different beds.....red is my favorite color and this plant really makes a statement.

Looked like a centipede at first to me. Like the red against the green. The plant shapes are interesting. I see you focused on the red, not the green. Good. Thank you.

Ya know swimmer...red is my favorite color....I've planted it all around my beds...but damn...it's the hardest color for me to photograph. Happy this one turned out so well. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting. Appreciate your time here.

This is a very nice photo, I love the colors here and the blurred background really makes these stand out. Do each one of these produce flowers if so I might want to try them this year, I am always looking for something new. Keep up the great work. JackJr.

Yes, each one of those little flowerets produces a bright red flower....and that is only one stem I've shown here. Each plant has dozens...so it's a VERY showy, wonderful flower in full bloom. I'll post a photo of what it looks like fully boomed sometime along. VERY easy to grow....you should plant some....you'll be very pleased!

Thanks so much Jack for viewing and your really nice comments. I appreciate them mucho!

Never seen or heard of these. but it looks beautiful. The colours are magnificent. You captured it nicely. Clear and focused, loved the green background which makes the red stand out even more

I like the color of this plant. Very interesting look. Nice sharp macro shot of the buds. Good clarity on the buds themselves and good balance exposure overall. There are some brown smudges in the background I probably would have cloned to match the green but this is a minor nit-pick. Thanks for submitting.

The brown 'smudges' are parts of the plants themselves. Knowing what they were...I didn't even notice them. But thank you for viewing and commenting. I'll go back and look.

Many thanks for your detailed notes on this striking flower. Your central composition is certainly very appropriate for this plant. The colours and tones are nice but I do feel just a little noise reduction is needed. Otherwise an enjoyable image!!

beautiful flower(s) and love the shallow depth. The intentional background blur is perfect for this flower. The 2 spikes behind are good as they add to the symmetry in my opinion. Only improvement, sharper focus on the main subject.

Thank you....just wondered why you had deducted so much. Hate the whole point thing but it's part of putting our photos out there.

Should have been a 4 star! Did I not do that??
reply by the author on 22-Feb-2016
A '4' star needs much improvement. There's a spot where you can read what the individual ratings mean.

No," 4 stars: good; adjustments needed"

OK then. Your opinion that my CROCOSMIA stem not sharply enough in focus. Thank you for commenting.
