This picture is saying a lot : it explains the current mood in a lot of people : success, ambition, sacrifice. But it also reminds me of my own school time when I was 16-17 years. Night work to get through the exams.

Reminds me of childhood days in the farm, and Summertime. I like how you've drawn the position of his hand, and the face, that looks so intent, on his reading material. Great substance and drawing techniques. It also looks like a movie scene.

Not sure why an art contest entry is in the photo section but here goes! Composition seems quite classical and the atmosphere the image generates is suggestive of ages past. There is a lot for a viewer to admire and engage with. Well done and good luck in your contest!

I think I know who is behind this drawing, but I wonder why it is posted as a photo. I think it is especially the light you have brought into this drawing that is so special. In photo we would call this a low key image, and it is indeed effective the way the light is falling on the face of the boy and on the book. The contrast to the darkness around is striking.
Also in this drawing all the finest details are there, and I think especially the hand is drawn well.
First I was going to suggest that a square format probably would be better, but the more I look at this drawing the more I like the dark negative space at the top.
Another truly beautiful and well done drawing with a well balanced composition, and I wish you luck with the contest.

This is a well balanced composition of the drawing. I do like the black and white concept but I do like the balance of white and black. The illumination of the light is great on the face. Nice job and thanks for submitting.

Very good and imaginative entry for the contest. I like the idea of the boy reading by candlelight. The image is quite small so it's difficult to see the details but it looks to have been drawn beautifully. Very good use of light and shade. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

This is really a fantastic piece of work, you can tell that there is a lot of talent here. I can just imagine that's probably how it was in the old days when it got dark outside you had to probably use candles to see and also to read like he is doing here.
