Dangerous is right. A small piece can break off and the waves it makes could swamp the boat. This was taken on a cloudy day. The camera doesn't know that the subject it is focus on is white. So it takes what it sees. Blueish cast. I am just telling you that bit of info. This looks good. In chicago we will hit 90degrees F.

thanks; do you see the snow? perfectly WHITE
no bluish cast: it is the color of a glacier (not covered by snow):exacately what happens when taking underwater pics....did you see my iceberg 3 days ago? I was just asking why it is blue..........

I don't want to get into an argument with you. Your photos are interesting. Yes glaciers have a blue cast.A friend of mine uses a filter to get rid of the blue cast when him and his wife go diving.

when diving, one must use a flash in order to avoid the blue cast

This is a true blue image with help from the almighty above for that.

Would have been great in a blue contest for sure.

Nicely focused and cropped. Well done Fred.

Braver than I! Thank you for sharing an image from such an amazing experience. Your description helps me appreciate just how lucky I am to see this (and how brave you are). Nature is wonderful and unpredictable which you have perfectly captured here. The glaciers are the main focal point of this image as it takes up most of the space and has great contrast between the sky behind and water in front of it. Great photo, well done.

Another great capture of this eternal ice now melting down - are you there right now? I think you have a true gift to find perfect angles and positions even from a small boat, your compositions always have the perfect distance adapted to the subject - a well balanced and calm picture, excellent in few colors, with the perfect contrast and lighting - interesting ice formations are giving this shot even more interest

well framed well done, thanks for sharing

You really got a fine photo of this glacier and you must have felt really small in the meeting with this part of the nature of Spitsbergen. I especially like that also managed to include the mountains in the background, and also the format you have presented this photo in.

Your photo is also crisp and clear and it is really fine details and textures to be seen in the ice. I also think the exposure is very good.

Your POV was of course the best, and the cropping is just perfect. A truly great looking and well taken photo Fred, and with an excellent DOF.

Impressive glacier with awesome clear, bright and colors. White on top and with this height extremely dangerous to approach. Properly detailed, shadowed and centered, this is a fantastic clear photo and great eye viewer.
Thanks for showing.
CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK.
Have a Happy Independence Day!

A very interesting shot. It is rare to get an up close view of a glacier. I like the detail you show and the excellent feel for the dimensions of this natural phenomenon.
