It's a classy still life and the fact you left some green garden in the background was artistry at it's best.
I do feel a bit more of a crop at our L wouldn't hurt, just a bit because all that white isn't necessary (IMHO). I cannot help but see purple and not red and I know you are rolling your eyes at this point....they are red onions and are red when sliced. Don't worry, I'm not on the CEC (aka as the KGB).
This is a fine artistic still life, sharp and executed with thought to beauty....and photographic principles.

The composition is great, I think this color is purple, good initial impact, the composition have a little distractionin the right corner, ( green leaf ), like the textures and exposure, good Job and good luck on the contest, Jairos

I like the focus on this picture. You can feel the texture of the blanket which show's off the red onion's. I like there are 3 of them it adds to the interest. The upper right quarter of a slightly blurred wood and green plant makes it seem more from nature, if that makes sense.

This is a lovely still life. I like the visible textures of your background cloth and the bit of greens and possible basket in the right upper corner. I can imagine being in the garden and gathering vegetables for as you say... a salad.
Your colors are very realistic for these 'red' onions. And again, your clarity of focus and detail is exemplary.
You have used your settings to assure your focus is captured in almost the entire frame with just that bit of blur as your depth of field moves into that upper right corner and is taken up by the shading across the bottom margin. Nice work!
Your framing is good. I may have added more space to the right as that seems to be the direction the onions are facing. But I really like the amount of cloth you have showing on the left. It is a great deal of the beauty of this shot! So nice job! And good luck in the contest!
