Mary,
A brilliant picture of the yawning male bat & the second one watching you closely from it's perch behind. I'm happy you have not removed or cloned out the twigs, so we see what you saw, a picture taken out in the real world NOT a studio. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Thanks Susan, yes several complained about the twigs, I rarely do any editing other than crop and maybe minor adjustment to contrast. :)

It would be a great shot if only you did not have to shoot through the twigs. The open mouth is great (to say nothing of the genitalia). I think the way the second one is looking on really makes this shot.

Thanks Mike, I agree with your feedback. Some experts in editing might be able to fix the twigs in front but that is not me :)

Oh what I really like Mary is the look on the face of the guy that isn't yawning....lol...as if he simply can't imagine what the other guy is doing yawning.
I suppose I must start w/ those branches in front of them. Such a shame....they are really distracting from your photo of these two little guys. It's a wonderful shot...especially since I didn't realize they hung around outside during the day....thought they preferred dark places then.
Despite the interfering branches I've enjoyed seeing your close up view of these guys. Appreciate the notes as well.

unfortunately the diffused focusing in the foreground upsets what is a brilliant shot of these two bats. The sharpness of the mammals is excellent as is the structure but the foreground offers too much of a distraction.

Thanks so much yes unfortunately couldn't do a lot with the twigs/branches in front of the little fellows but though it was still worth posting as it is not something you see every day :) Mary

I think this must be the first shot of bats I have seen on this site. It is also new to me that it was possible to find them hanging from trees in full daylight. It is really funny to see the one to the left with a big yawn. They are standing out really well from the light blue sky, but I find the blurred branches in front of them a bit distracting.
I also think the focus on their heads could have been sharper, but it is still possible to see fine details in the animals. The all over exposure is good.
I like the tight framing and the close and personal approach and the bats are well placed within the frame. It must have been fantastic to be able to take a photo like this, and it is all together well done, but in need of some corrections.

Thanks Annie, really posted so people got to see the amazing bats not for the quality as it was difficult with the branches in foreground. Glad you enjoyed seeing the unusual sight. Will post another which hasn't got so many distractions but not quite as good a display as the yawning one! :) Mary
