Well Debs - I had to stoke up the fire and put on a woolly jumper when this one came up on the screen. Great shot with excellent story telling from where I am. I love the sky lighting and the mix of trees and their shapes. Lots to take in with excellent depth, detil and focus. I like the composition you have achieved. Thanks for sharing - I'm off to warm up - Ronnie

Well mission completely accomplished then Ronnie...lol.. I was so hoping to convey how cold...but crisp and clear it was when I took this shot. I do appreciate you checking it out and letting me know it worked! Thank you so much.

Wow this is awesome, love the snow white in the pines with the dramatic colors from the sun setting or coming up. It really makes everything pop with that sky color. Your focus is great and your framing and lighting are very good, awesome job

Thank you so very much Tracy Lynn for that marvelous review and, of course, for the extra sparkle you shared w/ my newest post. I do appreciate you checking it out and being so generous w/ your rating!

I want to like this photo because your composition is so outstanding. The frosty trees are pretty against the gold sky. What lessens the overall impact is the dark, foreboding sense I get because the evergreens are so dark and the snow looks gray. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I am probably in the minority. Whiter snow would lift this photo for me.

I always appreciate honesty in a review BC so thank you for that. I do very little to my photos post-wise...other than crop and sharpen a bit so if this scene looks 'foreboding' to you it is b/c that is exactly how I photographed it. I shoot strictly manual settings and am careful w/ white balance. Never even considered lightening up the snow. Thank you so much for checking it out though.

A very nice winter scene, especially with the colourful sky (sunset?) in the BG.
I like the snow laden trees and being able to see the also see the road.
White balance may be a tad "off" but not enough to spoil the effect of the landscape.
Nice work.

hmmmnn...I'm pretty careful w/ white balance Shirley so not sure I agree w/ that assessment. Photo taken late in the afternoon....the sky tends to be that color when it's a cold as it's been recently. Do appreciate you having a look. Thanks so much.

Hi Deborah: perhaps just on my screen that the snow has a very slight blue tinge. I made no deduction for that. Take care.
    Shirley.

No no Shirley...I saw that you hadn't made a deduction. I have argued w/people before that sometimes that is just honestly the way the snow looks at my place. Anyway- all is good! Thanks again for having a good look.

Gorgeous light and crisp focus makes for a gorgeous scene. The cropping has encapsulated the essence of winter. The road must give you lots of privacy for your property. This would make a stunning greeting card cover.

The road's a mile long Gary and no-one down here but me....well, lol and the animals. No other people for over a mile. Just gotta love that!! I am thinking this will make a page for my next calendar! Thank you so much for checking it out. Always appreciate having you review one of my posts Gary.

Beautiful retention of all the textures here, and I like the gradation of the sky. The warmth of the orange balances out the frozen white colors, and the contrast all over give it a sense of depth.

I can understand why you love it so much Deborah.....it's only paradise. What were the temperature the day you took that picture?
reply by the author on 16-Jan-2017
I told someone yesterday that when I die and go to Heaven that if it doesn't look like where I live now that I want to come back...lol.... It was about zero when I took this photo. Not unusual for January.

I like that .... have a good week

Actually Lise...my road IS my driveway. No-one lives down here but me. Even the mailman made me put my mailbox out at the other end so he wouldn't have to drive down here. Thanks so much for checking out my new post. I do appreciate it.
