Hi Super,
This is the most amazing butterfly I have ever seen! With the wings open it's beautiful and one would never expect with wings closed it was a butterfly. I voted for you in the contest and was happy to see you'd won. It this isn't camouflage I don't know what is?
I saw your note in the forum and couldn't believe people didn't take the time to look this up! I did! I knew it was some kind of insect and was rewarded by seeing it was a beautiful butterfly.GREAT JOB! :o) Helvi

thanks a lot Helvi for your lovely comments;
unfortunately it is not the first time that people write stupid comments without reading the notes or subtitle:;

There have been times when the same thing has happened to me so I know how you feel. It can be frustrating when you have to keep explaining and you've already included information when you posted your image! One of the things I love about FAR is the discovery of seeing something new and taking a closer look! :o)

Ok, fallen from another tree? wind? LOL many possibilities
As an photo, maybe not that interesting, but the exposure and composition are good

this is not a leaf!
Comment from SteveANH
The magic leave! LOL I wonder if it's connected to the slender light green leaf.
You have great command of the depth of field with perfectly faded background!
Excellent work!
Wow was I fooled! With a closer look I can make out the little legs! (red faced!)

it is a butterfly;
many thanks again

Well shot with good focus on the dry leaf. Well exposed. I wondered if possible some type of insect that mimics a leaf? Interesting shot.

many thanks eva; I indicated the name: kalima inachus: it is a butterfly!
Comment from Gail Ross
It does have the same vein down the middle as the other. I'm thinking when the green leaves die and dry up their shape changes because of lost moisture? Nice focus and very interesting composition.

Amazing! Great camouflage.

Well good eye on your part....oops...lol...almost used your name there. Good eye....bet most people would have not even given this a second glance....if they even noticed it in the first place.
Excellent focus on your little outlier. Well detailed enough to allow for comparison w/ the other leaves. Good color and perfect exposure. Your little square format is just right for the more oval shape of the leaves and your very unusual butterfly.
As to what it's doing there. hmmnn lol...well I read all the notes and I can see his legs. Wonderful capture sg! Your posts are some of the most educational ones here. Best of luck w/ your photo here. Has to be the very best camouflage for sure.

This is for sure camaflouge at its best! This is in the butterfly family.
Kallima inachus is a nymphalid butterfly found in tropical Asia from India to Japan. When it has its wings closed, it closely resembles a dry leaf with dark veins. What a Great example of camouflage.
Where did you find this?
You have nice focus but I would clone out the distracting white spots and maybe even crop tighter.
I can't speak for people's Opinions here ... I have a few hung up on my horse shot. Nobody reads. You gave away what this was in your description above the title.
Great entry for the contest.

thanks a lot Sandra for your great comments;
despite giving the name and writing Something "mysterious, I got three 4 from people claiming that a dry leaf isn't appropriate for the contest! crazy people on this site: they never read all détails;
-
No...And when you suggest they look it up and research it.....They get BENT. WHATEVS...
It's an insect.. not a leaf...
Been here long enough to know that changes on the site take place.... But with the people? Not so much.
:)

If it is anything other than a dead leaf that has fallen into this cluster, it sure has me fooled. I have seen insects that mimic leaves, but this does not seem to be one. Great colors and nice detail throughout.
