An attractive butterfly with an very striking pattern and great colors. The shot is meticulously sharp and shows the speckled eye which is a thing I really like.

Either way after reading your narrative this is one fantastic looking butterfly, if it were a person it'd be the cool guy that everybody likes and is always well dressed and generous lol. A fantastic shot taken with excellent clarity in great lighting which accentuates the beautiful and eccentric multicoloured patterns on the wings and great detail on the face and body, if not slightly blurred. The dark green leaf it rests upon and the blurred dark background help make this beautiful insect stand out even further, a wonderful shot well done :)

I am extremely poor in learning about the biological names. I can't even pronounce them.:) All I know id that this is a lovely shot of a butterfly! The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good effort!

OK OK OK you know well I have no clue about flowers and butterflies. I am quite surprised that my image wasn't dq-ed as it only showed one butterfly but the contest asked for butterflies. Hmmmm I wonder who was monitoring this contest?

"butterflies" included as usual one or more; only a single entry had 2 butterflies: no reason to disqualify all others;
