What an adorable closeup of this really cute squirrel.
The fur stands out so much with its color and whispy tail that it is a fantastic entry for this contest. Wonderful clarity and lovely focus and detail.

A beautiful picture of this alert & curious American Red Squirrel with the sun shining on it from behind giving it a halo of light. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
It lacks the ear tufts & fuller bushy tail of it's cousin in the British Isles.

yes,,,they are true squirrels,,we have the black and grey ones too,,but they are closer to rats so the biologist declare lol,,,thanks for the review

On this side of the "POND" the Native Squirrel is Red with Tufts on it's ears & a Bushy tail or brush. We also have introduced American Grey Squirrels which in some places have displaced the Reds.... When I was a child you could get a bounty of one shilling if you killed a Grey Squirrel/ Tree Rat & brought in it's tail...I never did this.

when I was a kid I never saw a gray squirrel or black one ever,,they never existed in Northern Ontario,,then the weather got warmer or people just left out more food for them now they are everywhere,,,but if you go deeper in the bush you tend to see more of the red squirrels,,,

Very professional looking shot of this squirrel on a tree branch. The fur is full of detail and texture. The tree in the foreground anchors the squirrel in place. The muted background lets your eye focus on the subject. Nice contest entry and good luck.

A fantastic "portrait" shot of this lovely little squirrel, taken with great clarity and beautiful timing to catch the pose as it perches on the little stump of the tree, more alert than it looks no doubt! good detail on the fur on the little thing as the light cast from just behind the tree highlights the texture and colour of the tail very well, contrasting with the shorter and more coarse fur of the body and head, with the soft white underbelly and neck too. Neatly cropped and good short DOF blurs out any distraction with distant foliage that also accentuates the piece further. Great work and best of luck in the competition! :)
