This is a very nice shot of this sparrow! I don't mind the branches since they are part of the Sparrow's habitat and I can still get a good look at his face. I think his pose and the way he's looking at you is very cute.

There is really nothing wrong with this photo, but the sparrow is not prominent enough. Had you considered muting the background so the bird stands out? Thank you for sharing and good luck with this image

This is a good shot even with the branches in your way. The branches give it an artsy feel as they make abstract patterns. Great detail in the bird and overall soothing colors. Good luck in the contest.

Nice shot of the Sparrow. I don't know why they are not liked very well, I think they are a fun bird. Good focus and eye contact and a nice blurred background. Well done and good luck.

I empathise with you totally with the "dog in one hand, camera in the other" situation - most of my photos are taken when out on dog walks and occasionally I have the extreme difficulty of getting a good shot whilst I've got one or more impatient pooches pulling on their lead!! But you pulled this one off superbly, capturing this little sparrow with great clarity and DOF, managing to get the shot through the branches and have a more or less completely clear view of the little creature, with great detail showing the brown and black patterning on the head and generally the beak and face, and also the fluffy grey down on it's breast. It's cute little feet curled round the branch are also captured which is fantastic, and the criss cross of branches at various levels of focus I think enhances the piece as a whole, as the colours are similar but the blurred background helps to accentuate the piece further. Wonderful capture, well done and best of luck in the competition! :)

thanks so much,,yes I learned to step on leashes to stop the dogs plus If I have to move around I just patiently move the leashes as well,,my dogs I walk (dog walker by trade) seem to know and wait patiently

I always have to look up sparrows in order to get the right species, but this guy is not very common in my area. A fine shot with beautiful subtle colors and a fine pose. Best of luck in the contest.
