The knife work is outstanding with the color combinations and texture effect you achieved. I'm glad this one didn't get tossed! I like the depth this view offers and how your mountain and clouds appear to be far off in the distance.

I must admit a bit of bias, I spent many joyful summers playing in the shadow of these mountains and my mother is buried there. This painting feels like home and is beautifully captured. Love your use of light and shadow and the strong and vibrant foreground. Well done.

Love the golden colors against the blue tones in this artwork. The mountains look cold against the summer grass. Nice detail throughout the art. Good luck in the contest.

Like the technique of the composition, especially the sky and mountains, very transparent and pretty. I think only there are too much orange at the front. it takes the attention away from the beautiful landscape. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your five star vote and your comments. I had an instant and uncontrolled chuckle about the taking the attention away from the landscape comment. I wanted the aspens to overpower the landscape. Your comment tells me I did a good job on the background landscape so as to entice the viewer to also explore that area as well. I appreciate the confirmation that I succeeded with that in this painting. Thank you for taking the time to see this painting.

A truly beautiful mountain scene with the colourful Aspens "dressed-up" in their fiery Autumn colours of gold, orange & red in the foreground appearing to move in the breeze as I look at them in the background the green foot hills leading the eye to the mountains in the background snow clinging to the dips & valleys in their rocky surface while the clouds wind-borne dance over their peaks leaving glimpse of blue sky where there are gaps. Wonderful composition, framing & lighting created with very skilful palate knife skills, beautiful choice & blending of your natural colours in bring this scene to life.

This is one eye catching piece of art work. The first thing that caught me was , of course, the vibrancy of the "fire" that seems to be eating up the valley and that texture with palette knife application is simply WOW. As an artist you know yellow and blue is the perfect combination for nothing ever looks as yellow as when it is put against blue.

You have great depth shown as well. The spread of Aspens is truly dynamite.

Top notch.

Thank you for your five star vote and your comments. When the Aspens are on "fire" artists trek to the mountains every year to capture it. We can be seen in the roadside stops, at the Aspen view points and other locations in the pullouts and parks.

I love this knife painting because it is so classical in its concept and execution and in its atmosphere; The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good effort!

Thank you for your five vote and your comments. Your view of this work as being classical in concept and execution is interesting to me. I will have to think about that a bit because I do see my art taking a direction I never suspected.
