So this is how you look like when you have found gold. LOL I am not sure a photo of a sculpture can be called a portrait, but you have pictured it well, and I especially like that you have gone in close. I also think the photo looks nice in black and white.
Your photo is sharp showing clear and well defined details, and also the fine textures in the sculpture. I also think the exposure is fine.
The tight cropping and the format works well and the sculpture is well placed within the frame. I think this is a great looking and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

LOL, I am not sure a sculpture can be a portrait either. But it is of a person, just made of concrete. I guess CEC will let me know if I was a bad boy again!!
Thanks for the great review, dq'd or not!

I really like your capture of this sculpture. The black and white tone gives it a sort of vintage look which matches the story of the statue quite well. Your focus, framing, and lighting are all very good. The angle also adds drama to the photo. You did a great job and I thank you for sharing this with us :)

Thanks much for the nice review. I did try to capture a vintage look since the era represented is 1849. I appreciate all the reviews you have given me! Thanks!!

Thanks for the great review. I would have the same look if I had found a few gold nuggets. Very creative to be made of concrete by a dentist of all people.

Allan I am never sure how to respond to a picture of someone else's art. I think this is a well done shot. I might consider playing with the contrast to heighten some of the details. I am not crazy about the sepia or color tone it seems to wash things out. Artistically there is nothing that makes this yours as nearly as I can tell. I shoot a lot of sculpture shots but always with a purpose to find something new or different to say about the piece or to use it in a new piece. As I said technically this is a good shot and well done.
