In my opinion, you have created a superb artistic rendition of the actor Vincent Price. Even though he played a variety of dramatic and comedic roles in movies and television, Vincent Price is mainly known for his performances in horror films. Many of these are classic horror films. In this portrait, your brilliant artistic talent has captured Mr Price's aura of menacing mystery in his eyes, and his diabolical countenance is prominent against the dark surreal background.
My favorite Vincent Price movie is House Of Wax- 1953.
Vincent Price was also an avid art collector, and he would have really admired your portrait of him, I am certain.

Prove all those who said you can't render male sketches wrong!
Fantabulous facial details.
Crisp & sharp outlines delineating a great likeness to Vincent Price.
Sharply focused.
Fine facial features & textures.
Maybe his left eye needs a bit of enhancement to bilaterall balance the right. But its too minor concen as this has a great overall impact!

Soft highlights and faint shadows.

Thanks for sharing...

Hi James thanks for sharing this portrait of the one and only Vincent Price. . well done... yes , indeed there is a very real likeness in your well detailed painting. I really like the brush strokes used to create his head of black hair.. the lighter highlights used give the hair good volume and texture and that sleek appearance , all combed neatly to portray that look he so proudly portrays. The facial features are full of emotion. His eyes are staring right at me as I look deeper into his face. The left eye in particular , gives him a strong and focused appearance.. both the eyebrows have their own unique expression that enhances his eyes nicely. his long sharp nose leads my eyes straight to that stunning moustache that slightly protrudes over his top lip.. giving him that air of intrigue as it combines with his well rendered beard of interesting brush stroke technique to make it look thick, a little unruly, yet so very distinguished.. Good jawline and forehead details.. your use of shading on his flesh makes a nice compliment to his finer features and adds to that rustic appearance of seniority and superiority.. His lower lip has a slight slope which leads me think he is in deep concentration about something of importance.. I like t he inclusion of his collared coat.. excellent brush strokes to allow part of his coat to be rendered and the remainder to blend into the dark background.. allows the imagination to flow.. nicely done. That whitish highlight at the base of his neck is an interesting addition and draws the eyes in and upward toward his face.. the lighter shadowing on the right gives the painting a nice textural feel as it blends well into the darker hue.. Well constructed facial features that really resemble the gentleman. Vincent Price.... great job James. thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest. a real pleasure to review.cheers mel
