A very nice nature shot here of an owl in the wild, well captured it is difficult to see them as they are perfectly camouflaged against the trees,
You managed a good shot with the owl looking directly at the camera. How exciting to get the shot, well done
And well spotted.

Thank you so much!

Nicely framed and even with the nearly dual tones the image is still clearly depicted and the subject stands out. I like that you captured this owl in setting so similar to its own coloring

Kristi I share in your excitement of finding an owl in the wild. I get to see Great Horned, Screech owls and Burrowing Owls here where I live. I can't and refuse to give fluff high five reviews and I will never lie saying sharp focus when focus is clearly soft.
So...high five for your find and excitement, but some Sharpe camera techs we're needed for this. I shoot full manual and my guess is you are not there yet.
If your camera allows it... You need a high shutter speed for bird photography and you need to center meter the birds eye to get sharp focus. High shutter/ low f/stop will get you fine results.
A fun find and nice first time capture.

Nice captured shot. Owls are so elusive so I share you excitement at getting a shot at all. He even appears to be posing for you!
Definitely a joy to view.
Great eye! I am so glad you were able to accomplish a very nice photo of this beautiful guy.

Great capture of this beautiful Owl perched in the tree, looking right at you. I like all the patterns made by the branches and twigs. Very good lighting and focus showing his markings very well. Lovely composition. Suzanne

Thanks...I was worried the branches would be to busy but with the chance to shoot this owl I just had to hope for the best :)

Pity the background is so bright and busy, the bird gets lost on it
nice focus, even a bit soft, nice use of rule of 3
thanks for sharing

You were fortunate to get the photo, and even with zoom, there is depth to the photo. I understand the lighting was not what you would have liked, but had it been me, I would have opted for truer colors for the bird. Overall, you did a great job with a difficult subject.

A fantastic find. I've only seen a couple in the wild. This is a decent shot and I would try cropping it a little bit tighter and see if the image holds together. It is unfortunate you did not have a longer lens.

Sounds like a lot of "firsts" went into this shot! I can well understand your feelings about getting this photo as I too have experienced this!! Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!
