I can't help but award you a six for your National Geo style story and composition. How many would be brave enough to compose a capture with 'mud' as the subject?! A Vermont gardener! :D
Now what can I say about this as a composition? There really is much to be said. Your frame is balanced with the colors and textures supporting each other from the lowest and upward with that slight curve disappearing into the fir trees. Your white is balanced .. :D I can't say that anything but the mud was the initial impact for me... but the holes in the mud filled with the melted snow are reflecting the blue sky. I think that is what ties this entire work together.. seriously.
And so you have created a story leaving all of your FAR friends waiting for the next chapter. And in gardener speak..you really do have some nice, black dirt! Great for growing beautiful flowers! We will wait for that first photo of some green sprouts! :D Thanks for sharing Deb.. The winter must end soon!

awwww Becky- you are just a sweetheart! Do you know I never even thought of this as composing an image w/ the subject being MUD...lol but, of course, that's EXACTLY what it is. I just so take it as a matter of course for a few weeks every spring that I never considered how unappealing it might be to some viewers. You absolutely made my morning here b/c YOU got it exactly so thank you so very much for your more than generous comments and gold star. I hope you know how much I appreciate them. Oh and the dirt around here?? One of the biggest reasons my flowers all thrive....I'm sure of it. Thank you again my friend.

This looks so much like around my home! The snows are melting away and lots of mud in its place! The focus is excellent! The color is good! The angle of the shot is very nice! Well done and thanks for sharing! Lori

LOL, I knew immediately that this was your photo before I even saw your name. Looks like home for sure, however this is a part I don't miss. Good job and thanks for another memory.

Geeze Louise. Now I know why I got stuck going to your house and had to turn around. What a mess. It reminds me of what we called an Army Mission that was going South (not working as planned) : a "Soup Sandwich". Not a pretty sight. Not to be critical BB, but this would have looked much better if you had gone to the store, bought some cut flowers and stuck them in the ruts. Ya, that would have made this a prize winner. But even without the flowers I am glad that you showed the perils of getting to your house. Hope all is well BB ~ BB

Made the trip in and out again this morning BB....had to take most of my clothes off at the front door before I came back into the house....good thing the animal 'neighbors' don't care if I stand on my front steps only half clothed...lol Thank you so much for checking out what definitely is my dirtiest post ever! You settled back in yet? ...and has your dog forgiven you yet??

Oh, I do not even want to think what type of laundry situation this kind of mud can cause. No sense in washing your car til spring has sprung. Hope you get it soon.

Oh no way! That is some serious mud! It looks deep too! All I can think of is how I could let my dogs out and have them avoid this area! I can see that the snow is going away, that's a good thing! Well photographed to show us a good view of what spring thaw looks like! Well focused, clear image, natural colors and tones ! Is this really a mile long? Bless your heart ! We are in the mid fifties here today and lots of melting snow and standing water!

This is the GOOD section Pat! You should see some of the photos I got when Comanche and I slogged out to the other end yesterday. OMG! Yup...a mile of this...and worse....lol (My fault for living out in the middle of the woods) I was exhausted....and REALLY dirty when we got back to the house. "Spring thaw' is a bitch....only redeeming quality is SPRING actuality bursts forth by the time the mud dries up. Thank you so much for having a look....and 'sharing' lol Do really appreciate it.

Looks like you are in urgent need of getting some tarmac laid down there! Your fine composition of the scene tells the story in good style. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well taken, hope it dries up soon!

I will never pave it Nik. For one thing I couldn't afford that massive job...but, believe it or not, dirt roads have a certain appeal....and charm actually, so I put up w/ the month of mud and enjoy the other eleven months. Always happy to see you've checked out one of pieces and thank you for another fine review. Oh and mud boots Nik.....indispensable for the next few weeks. LOL
