The beauty of the sketch is that it is simple yet eye catching! The heron looks just like a heron and the water that he is standing in sets off the foliage.

I'd like to color this one!
You made good in creating those harmonious lines to sketch proportionately this avian cutie.
I'm just imagining the full color version but its always a refreshing learning experience to venture new art genre!
Thanks for sharing...

A brilliant piece given this is the first time you have ever done line art before - It is certainly a contrast to your vibrant work but variety is the spice of life - I photograph from macro insects to landscapes and abstract and I've found it's helped me learn a lot about the passion I have as I'm sure this does for you too!! Great proportion, careful and precise detail applied and structured well with the water foliage gives good depth and contrast to the piece. The intricacies in the features of the bird are great and overall a great composition and best of luck in the polls! :)

Thank you so much. It is so light that I am thinking of going over my pencil lines in black ink using a fine brush. What do you think?
reply by El-mundo on 26-Apr-2018
Yes perhaps - I'm sure you a finer and steadier touch than me as I personally cannot do things like that! But I from your previous work trust that you'll make a good job of it, if you feel confident it will stand out more, certainly! :)

Linda,
I really love this picture you fine line drawing allows us to see the Heron in all his beauty with out colours shadows & extra objects distracting us from the Star the Heron himself. Created with very skilful draftsmanship & shading.

Very nice drawing the crosshatch shading is very well done and indeed adds to the realism which is also nicely captured in the legs and depiction of water below the heron. The illusions of depth is created with your placement of the main subject and nicely used perception points

For your first time you did a great job. Love these graceful birds. I have just finished a pastel one. Might have to give this line drawing a try, looks interesting. Susan

This is a really good line art drawing of a blue heron. I never enter this contest, because I do like my color. Your composition is really good with the plant like strands framing the heron. Nice work and good like in the contest.

it came out really well linda. i have never tried a line drawing myself and understand the difficulty. your drawing has been a complete success, looks natural and effortless. in fact has inspired me to pick up a pencil and try a drawing myself. not a line picture though and not a nature subject. still hoping it turns out half as good as yours.

Thank you so very much. Your dinosaur exhibit pictures would lend themselves well to this medium...especially the alligator like creatures.

many thanks for the advice and support linda.

Thanks again. I redrew it in ink and reposted. The lightness of the pencil bothered me. Hope I did not ruin it.

oh yes linda, you improved the work; as the darker ink defines the white space. i have almost completed my drawing but it might gain a few laughs, lol.
