This is a wonderful entry for the competition. I've always loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and this looks like the Black Pearl! The deep sunset really sets the mood for this shot. The horizon is perfect and the light and shadows on the rocks is just right. Perspective and detail are amazing. Really a pleasure to view and best wishes in the open.

    OK I will do!

Great composition with good subject interest. The contrast brings out the orange sky but leaves the foreground a little too dark. Perhaps a lens filter could be used to highlight the orange so contrast could be less? Very nice shot that sparks the imagination- well done.

Thank you very much Jomo for your honest review and comments. I really appreciate your pointing out the fact that the rocks in the lower left corner are a bit too dark. I was wondering myself and now that you have mentioned it I will go back and take another look. Thanks for that. In the future I would appreciate knowing at least one thing that can be improved. Thanks again.

Lovely image. Was the jolly Roger flying? I love the way the light and color of the light is playing on the water. Good catch on the splashing wave. The silhouette works well with the ship. Good detail and focus. The sun on the right is starting to blow out which does impact on the whole image. Well seen and well shot.

Simply gorgeous! The dramatic clouds looks great with the grand shape of the ship and that yellow is breathtaking. The light on the rocks and the splash of waves you captured is also lovely.

Another extraordinary shot. The boat is well located in the frame and the breaking wave is eye catching. Great composition and beautiful colors. Best of luck in the contest.

The photo would have been exceptional without the Black Pearl, but that just added mystery. Whatever filters were used made this a work of art. Love that it has a sunset for the background and waves splashing on the rocks as the foreground. Very well done and expertly edited.

A very creative presentation with fine initial visual impact.

The central element of interest is well positioned off center and exquisitely framed with the harmonious colors of sunset.

There are several aspects of technical excellence on display. For example the exposure is fast enough to freeze the spray from the surf. The choice of aperture lets in enough light to set a good story telling mood.

Well done ... B-)) Bob

I presume "The. Black Pearl" is the ship featured in your nice photo? If so why is it called that and where is it going? Your interesting image benefits from being well composed, sharp with good exposure. Well done and good luck!

AH. You have not seen the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies with Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. It is a great series of movies in which the Black Pearl is a ghost ship inhabited by the ghosts of past pirates. A pretty motley crew to be sure. The ship is named after the Fabled Black Pearl, a large pearl worth a kings ransom. They are off to the Edge of the World to find it with the help of a very special compass. If you get the chance I think you may enjoy the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series of movies. Thank you for your review.
